Tire compounds are heavily filled with carbon black and silica, which act as hard abrasives. During extrusion, these hard particles continuously abrade the top surfaces of screw flights. Meanwhile, sulfur, accelerators, zinc oxide and fatty acids form a weakly acidic corrosive medium at high temperatures, resulting in synergistic corrosion on the screw. Laser cladding (employing Stellite cobalt-based powder or nickel-based tungsten carbide alloy powder to form a uniform protective layer of 0.3~2.5 mm) represents the optimal solution for surface strengthening of newly manufactured screws and remanufacturing of used screws.

Comparing with the robot based laser cladding machine, this laser cladding machine is much more cheaper and the maintainence is more easy.
